What does the Google Cloud Platform do and why?

Google Compute Engine (GCE) competes directly with services that put Amazon Web Services on the map: hosting virtual machines (VMs, servers that fully exist as software).
Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE, formerly Google Container Engine) is a platform for more modern container application forms (often referred to as “Docker containers”), designed to be placed on cloud platforms.
Google App Engine provides software developers with tools and languages like Python, PHP, and now even Microsoft .NET languages to build and use web applications directly in the Google Cloud. This is different from building applications locally and using them remotely in the cloud. This is “cloud” development: building, deploying, and developing applications remotely.
Google Cloud Storage is an object of the GCP data warehouse. This means that it accepts any amount of data and presents that data to the user in the most useful way – such as files, databases, data streams, irregular data lists or as multimedia
Nearline is a way to use Google Cloud Storage to archive and archive data. This is the way you don’t need to consider a database and only one user can access it, usually not more than once a month. Such an amount is easier to maintain than a very large index for a colossal relational database with multiple tables whose records must be linked at the time of the request.
Cloud SQL (not ready for general use) hosts more traditional relational database tables and indexes using extended GCE instances to meet database performance requirements.
Cloud translation, text-to-speech, and speech-to-text, as the name suggests, take advantage of Google’s existing capabilities to manage spoken and written languages for use in special applications.
Apigee is a modeling system for making and managing APIs – service calls to server-based functions that use the web as a communication tool. Apigee users can model, test, and implement mechanisms so that their existing web applications can be identified using the API, and monitor how web users use these calls for their own use.
Istio is an interesting type of “phonebook” for modern and scalable applications that is distributed as separate components, called micro user services.
